The period of May 12-19, 2012 will be celebrated as Armed Forces Week. For more than 60 years the third Saturday of May has been annually proclaimed Armed Forces Day by the President of the United States and Commander-In-Chief. Civilians in Central Kentucky are invited to join the Bluegrass Military Affairs Coalition (BMAC) to celebrate the unity and common purposes of the United States Armed Forces, and to honor dedicated American men and women in uniform who serve selflessly to preserve democracy and freedom at home and around the world in times of war and peace.

Armed Forces Week is an annual effort by the Bluegrass Military Affairs Coalition to increase public awareness about the United States Armed Forces and to express appreciation to the men and women serving in the military defending democracy and freedom.
